About PsychologyForge
PsychologyForge is a free, plain-language psychology encyclopedia and interactive tools hub. Our goal is simple: help you understand your mind without the jargon.
Our mission
Quality psychology information is often locked behind paywalls or buried in academic language. We translate established psychological science into clear explanations, real-world examples, and free self-assessment tools that anyone can use.
How we write our content
We are transparent about our process. Entries are drafted with AI assistance and then reviewed and edited by our team for accuracy, clarity, and tone before publishing. Every entry is grounded in established psychological concepts and the work of the researchers who defined them. We update entries as our understanding improves, and the date of the latest update is shown on each page.
Our sources
Our content draws on foundational research and widely accepted models in psychology — for example, Festinger's work on cognitive dissonance, Lorenz on imprinting, and the Big Five and attachment frameworks. Our assessment tools are inspired by validated instruments (such as PHQ-9 and GAD-7) and are clearly labelled as educational screeners, not diagnostic equivalents.
Accuracy & corrections
We take accuracy seriously. If you are a qualified professional and spot something that should be corrected, we want to hear from you — see Contact below. We welcome expert review and will credit reviewers who contribute.
